Halcyon Gradient

November 9, 2013

Gradient PreviewGradients are a lot of fun to play with, especially when you learn to load delicious new ones. And even more so when you learn to design your own, which is not too difficult. Honest!

Here is the one I made for Halcyon, using Kim’s Aug CC swatch. You can see the texture I applied for my paper on the right hand side of the Indian Cotton lace border, and on the left, the gradient as it comes.

Loading the .grd file should be child’s play. In Photoshop (from CS onwards I believe)  you can just drag the icon onto your Workspace and it will load automatically. Look for it at the bottom of your panel of Gradients. You then use the Gradient tool as normal to apply it in your projects.

There are lots of YouTube videos on how to make your own custom gradients.

Check out a good one here:

…and even more fun when you try your hand at Gradient Mapping. I think I might do a Newbie Notes on that soon 🙂
